This LIVE camera is dedicated to broadcasting the wild Black Eagles of Roodekrans from Johannesburg, South Africa. This latest conservation project focuses on the ambitious task of capturing the breeding cycle of the black eagles as they attempt to raise a new chick. What makes it so ambitious is that the nest of this particular pair of eagles is embedded into the sheer rock face of a 50 metre (164 feet) high cliff. To bring the story to people’s computer screens would require not only the use of some ground breaking technology but also an installation team complete with avid and experienced rock climbers.
The 2013 Black Eagle Cam has added improved streaming quality and glare reduction technology. Infrared LED lights which provide night vision will allow the viewer to witness the family 24 hours a day. Additionally, an omnidirectional microphone will capture the ambient sound of the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden, the massive waterfall adjacent to the nest, and hopefully the high pitched calls of the Black Eagle as well.
I believe the Black Eagle only raises one chick like the Lesser Spotted Eagle as a result of Cainism. In fact, the practice is very pronounced with the Black Eagle, so proceed with caution.
I like this Black Eagle sight so far. The view is awesome. I can see why she picked this spot. It has a waterfall and wide open spaces.

Here is a little more information on the history of the 2013 season. We are watching Emoyeni, whose first clutch of two failed. Hopefully the (reported) new eggs will make it:
Hiker those pics are ! I'd watch just to see the scenery. Dang what a precarious place for a nest! Don't go to the bathroom in the middle of the night without turning on the light is all I got to say bout that.

I think we should have been at Sparrowhawk Island a long time ago! Looks like a great place to watch the cams. Looks like they even have a cam inside a tree full of Barn Owls when they're nesting!
